The celebration marks the anniversary of Saint Patrick’s death in the fifth century and represents the arrival of Christianity in the country. The Irish have observed this day as a holiday for over 1,000 years, and while the festival began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland, today it has become an international celebration of Irish culture.

Ridgewood Art Institute Exhibition Moved to the Internet

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Art  Institute still stands empty, after 3 months. This beautiful building was originally a carriage house, built during the time of Lincoln’s Presidency. If those walls could speak, the amazing stories they would be able to tell. The building was gifted to RAI, by the owners of the home directly across the street. For 85 years it has been a veritable sanctuary to those committed to the pursuit of excellence in creating Art, more specifically the study of Classic Realism for both children and adults. Our banner “Art Show Today” has greeted many new visitors, who have subsequently become Members, Patrons and Family.

Presidents Day Our Favorite Presidents :Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln became the United States’ 16th President in 1861, issuing the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy in 1863.

Lincoln warned the South in his Inaugural Address: “In your hands, my dissatisfied fellow countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The government will not assail you…. You have no oath registered in Heaven to destroy the government, while I shall have the most solemn one to preserve, protect and defend it.”
