Ridgewood NJ, Heads up readers. There is some question about the COVID case data Mayor Susan Knudsen has been posting periodically on Facebook.  Some residents are suggesting that the data may be erroneous or, God forbid, bogus at worst.

Football under the lights at the new Hudson Street Athletic Field in Ridgewood ?

Ridgewood NJ, several Ridgewood police cars were observed rushing into the Hudson Street Parking Garage shortly before 10 PM on Wednesday night, and heading up the ramps to the top floor.  Bystanders looking on from the sidewalk in front of Mt. Carmel wondered if there was a serious crime in progress, or worse yet, a distraught person threatening a jump from somewhere on the top floor.

The Time has Come for a Major focus on Flood Control – Stop Flushing Money Down the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook

Ridgewood NJ, Frankly, enough is enough when it comes to flooding along the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook in Ridgewood.  Damaging, expensive flooding seems to be occurring every 5 years (or less) instead of every 100 years.

Critics Claim Debris build up is Contributing to local Flooding and Property Damage in the Village of Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ,  a  massive debris jam reported in the Saddle River near Maxwell Place and James Street in Ridgewood . The NJDEP , Bergen County  and the Village have come under increasing criticism over debris build up in local water ways , including the Ho-Ho-Kus brook and  Saddle River.  Critics claim the debris build up is contributing to local flooding and property damage .

It’s Déjà Vu All Over Again , Fired from a Job for Running for Village of Ridgewood Council

Ridgewood NJ, the recent events at the Ridgewood Y are eerily reminiscent of Deputy Mayor Mike Sedon initial run for Ridgewood Council . Sedon was forced to resign  from his then reporter job after he entered the council race. It was claimed the resignation  occurred after an anonymous email was sent to Sedon’s employer . It became known as the Mike Sedon Email Incident  , speculation ensued and Sedon was elected to the council.

9/11 Remembrances Were Held Across Bergen County

Ridgewood NJ, 9/11 remembrances were held across  Bergen county . The Village of Ridgewood lost 12 neighbors on that day and the Village of Ridgewood hosted a 9/11 remembrance to  remember and honor all those tragically lost on 9/11 at Memorial Park at Van Neste Square .

For the 22 families in Ridgewood who directly experienced the loss of a father, a son, a brother, a wife, a mother, a daughter, it has been 20 years of remembrance. The Bolger Heritage Center would like to take a moment to honor all those who were effected by the 9/11 attacks. As part of our mission, we preserve and maintain this part of Ridgewood’s history to keep their memories alive and for future generations to understand. Ridgewood NJ, according to Mary Hefferan Office Assistant at the Parks and Recreation Department for the Village of Ridgewood ,do to the flood waters overwhelming the sewer system the water that flooded the garden had a significant level of bacteria. Please discard any produce that has been exposed to the flood waters.

NJ TRANSIT TO REOPEN REMAINING RAIL WAITING ROOMS ON SEPTEMBER 7th

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT customers are welcome to once again use NJ TRANSIT indoor waiting rooms at rail stations that are not staffed with ticket agents beginning Tuesday, September 7th.  Waiting rooms were temporarily closed as a precaution to protect customers and employees against the spread of COVID-19. The station waiting rooms will be open for the same hours they were prior to the pandemic. Waiting rooms with staffed ticket windows have been open since September 2020.

Damn the open space; we need more parking! – Really Mr. Vagianos?

Ridgewood NJ, Paul Vagianos is a candidate for election in November to fill the unexpired Village Council. term of Bernadette Walsh (who resigned due to a pending relocation out of state).  Mr. Vagianos is a past president of the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Village’s Central Business District Advisory Committee (CBDAC).  He owns and operates the It’s Greek to Me restaurant on East Ridgewood Avenue and owns a commercial property on South Broad Street that houses the Pearl restaurant.
